Diary Post: Term 1 Week 7

I can't believe that the term has gone so far!

I am so close to leaving to Waiuku Primary School!

The School I'm going to next term. Waiuku Primary!!

We were learning about PVP (Place Value Partitioning, not Player vs Player) So I am currently on Level 2 on PVP.

And we are making Music with our bodies, we are using our hands, our feet, and our whistling skills to make music! Woah!
Is that impressive? If it isn't, look somewhere else!! If it is, keep reading! We are also learning to make explanations! I made one earlier, Gender Roles in the Maori Culture! We were reading The Whale Rider, a story by Witi Ihimaera. The story is about a girl named Kahu Apirana who is the eldest grandchild.
I'm pretty sure that's all I have to say.

REFLECTION:

I am learning to make an explanation

I found this work challenging to finish, but it was fun to do.

I could do better by reading other peoples explanations to gain some inspiration.

Overall I think I did Okay on this.

TIME REFLECTION

I am learning to tell the time on an analogue clock.

It was tricky to find out what the time was.

I am proud that I worked out some analogue times.

Next I will work out more analogue times.

I was learning how to write a narrative.

It was tricky to try and memorize "The elves and the shoemaker".

I was proud of when I memorized the story.
Next I could write more stories.

Features of a Non-fiction text

FEATURES OF A NON-FICTION TEXT

1. The contents page is after the title page of the book.

2. The index page is at the end of the book.

3. The glossary is before the index and gives the meaning of some words.

4. There are mainly photographs because non-fiction means true.

5. Some diagrams have labels to explain the diagram.

My Reflection: I am learning about the features of a non-fiction text/book.  I found it tricky
when I didn't know why diagrams have labels.  I was proud when I figured out the features of a non-fiction text/book.  What I should do next is to use this knowledge  in my own non-fiction books.

                                                 I found it tricky to find the correct words.
                                     I was proud of finding lots of nouns, verbs and adjectives.
                                            Next I will use more of these words in my stories.
